To maintain a website structure WordPress provides categories and tags to properly manage your website content. Several time you may find a need to rename the category . So here I would like to tell you how to rename category and its slug in WordPress.
Let's login into WordPress admin area.
Go to Posts->category.
Here you can add, edit and delete categories. You'll find two options to rename the category quick edit and edit.
You can modify category name and slug using quick edit option but if you also want to add or modify the description or its parent category then you have to use edit option. When you click on edit it will take you to the category edit page, where you'll get all these options.
An important factor which you may want to remember is that changing category slug will also change the category URL. So need to update the custom URL for that category.
Setup a redirection for SE after renaming category that's it.
